Forest of Lights 2024

“Flora” installation, a part of Forest of Lights. Sculptures by Marie Baldwin in collaboration with Joby Benoit and Lightswitch®

November 22, 2024 - January 5, 2025 at Fair Oaks Farms, Indiana.

Installation consisted of four large-scale textile flowers, modeled off of the Amaryllis flower, and four smaller textile flowers, modeled off of the Poinsettia flower. The larger flowers, made of rip-stop nylon, fiberglass and steel, envelope the viewer, standing at over fifteen feet tall with a wingspan of just over thirteen feet wide. The smaller flowers act as an accent to the mammoth larger flowers, wherein viewers can get a closer look at the details, framed with additional green acrylic leaves. Central lights at the center of each flower acted as the “pistils”. The flowers were a subset of a larger light show, centered around the holiday season and nature’s sky, land and water.
